Line 1: History of the population, agriculture, and environment
With focus on the analysis of migratory movements and the processes of population, depopulation and colonization of the border areas, this research line privileges the investigations about indigenous populations, caboclos and settlers from Europe, which allow the understanding of historical processes of human intervention in the environment and their influences about the human societies in different political, historical, ecological and cultural contexts. The line investigates and studies issues related to the formation, population, economy, identity, and culture of the peoples and societies that reside in the border areas of the countries in Meridian America.
Line 2: History of movements and social relations
The research line about History of Movements and Social Relations is focused on the different forms by which the social subjects constitute, relate, act and build the social order. It privileges the investigations that deal with migratory processes for the border regions, the inter-ethnic, economic, class, work, gender, family relations, as well as the historical contexts of the production of political and ideological speeches of the countries of Meridian America. The analysis on the social and environmental conflicts arising from the land exploration, popular organizations, peasant struggles, strategies of domination and resistance, constitution of identities, organization of spaces, social life and regional integration constitute the investigative scenario intended to improve in this research line.
