Objectives
The Graduate Program in Environmental Science and Technology at the Federal University of Fronteira Sul (UFFS) is dedicated to promoting the sustainability of agroecosystems, fostering sustainable rural development, advancing technological innovation, and preserving the systemic functions of natural environments. With a distinctly interdisciplinary focus, inherently aligned with Environmental Sciences, the program is designed to generate knowledge that enhances understanding of the impacts of human activities on diverse ecosystems and contributes to the establishment of methods, techniques, and strategies for sustainable development. The program operates on the premise that harmony among environmental, economic, social, cultural, and ethical dimensions in human endeavors is achievable.
The program is committed to training highly qualified professionals with advanced technical, scientific, technological, and academic expertise, thereby addressing the needs of a developing region. The training is fundamentally multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary, equipping graduates to integrate sustainability concepts and methodologies into human activities that impact agroecosystems within a unified framework.
The Master’s Program, established in 2013, has demonstrated robust research and recognized scientific output, achieving a score of 4 in mid-2022. The Doctorate Program, approved by CAPES in July 2023, represents the first public and tuition-free Doctorate program in the Alto Uruguai region, located in the northern part of Rio Grande do Sul state.
